About Us

We were just a group of mothers working across film and television, sharing everyday parenting tips (and woes) over text while working crazy demanding jobs. After the Nashville school shooting in 2023, we felt powerless and frightened in the face of gun violence becoming the number one killer of America’s children. We said ENOUGH.

Fed up with waiting for legislative action, we decided to launch #FiredUp and harness the only power we have - storytelling. We create the stories that are told on screen - if film & television shifted cultural norms around drunk driving, seat belt use, and cigarette smoking on screen, why can't we do the same with guns? It's worth a try.

#FiredUp strives to change the way guns are shown on screen and has partnered with bipartisan organization Brady United and their "Show Gun Safety" campaign, which brings together showrunners, writers, actors, directors, producers, agents, armorers, and executives committed to changing the cultural narrative of firearms in America.  #FiredUp is asking for one action from our industry colleagues -- Simply show guns being safely stored on-screen in films and television. Make this the new norm.

#FiredUp is also working with Hollywood, Health & Society, who released Trigger Warning: Gun Guidelines for the Media to help the entertainment industry improve representations of safe and responsible gun use in media.
